MODELCHECKINTERFERE

MODELCHECKINTERFERE checks whether 3D solids in your model run through each other (clashes). You define in a rules table which blocks must not touch each other, for example a deck-plate block against an upright block. The command finds the clashes and puts a marker in the drawing at each one.

Starting

Type MODELCHECKINTERFERE on the command line, or use the button in the ribbon on the SCAD Data / Export tab, Modules panel. You set the rules with MODELCHECKSETTINGS (same panel).

How it works

  1. Set up the rules first (see Settings). Without a rules file the command does not work.
  2. Type MODELCHECKINTERFERE. The command goes through the blocks in model space, including blocks nested inside other blocks, and compares the 3D solids of blocks that belong together according to a rule.
  3. Earlier markers from this command are removed. At every place where two solids really overlap, a marker block $PUNAISE_MAGENTA is inserted. Several clashes at practically the same spot (within 0.01 drawing unit) share one marker.
  4. The command line then shows:
    • === Samenvatting ModelcheckExtra ===
    • - Unieke interferentielocaties: N

Settings

Open MODELCHECKSETTINGS and go to the Interference tab.

  • Rules CSV: the CSV file with your rules. Pick an existing file with Browse…, or create a new file with New… that already contains the default rules (suggested file name ModelCheckInterferenceRules.csv).
  • You can edit the table below it directly: add, change and delete rules. Save checks the rules and stores them in the CSV file.

Every rule has these columns:

ColumnMeaning
NameName of the rule (required)
Source BlockName of the blocks on one side of the clash (required)
Target BlockName of the blocks on the other side (required)
Ignored Sub BlocksOptional. Sub-blocks (using the same kind of patterns) whose solids are skipped for this rule, including what is inside them. Use it to leave parts out of the check per rule.

Block names use patterns: * stands for any number of characters, ? for one character, and | or , separates alternatives. Upper and lower case do not matter, and the pattern has to match the whole block name. An example from the default rules: the rule Platen > Staanders with Source Block IS_PLT_* and Target Block LAY_STA_*.

The interference rules file contains no rules.Add at least one rule.
Block $PUNAISE_MAGENTA.dwg was not found in the drawing or configured block libraries; no markers were inserted. The clashes were calculated, but the marker block is missing from the drawing and the libraries.
