SCMIRROR
SCMIRROR is a mirror command with a live preview, designed for blocks. The original stays in place and the mirrored copy is added next to it. Blocks are rotated and moved instead of being flipped ‘inside-out’. Handy for blocks that do not come out right with the standard MIRROR.
Starting
Type SCMIRROR on the command line, or use the button in the ribbon:
- SCAD Core tab, Move / Copy / Align panel (
SCMIRROR) - Edit / Select tab, Arrange panel (
SC Mirror)
How it works
- Preselect the blocks, or pick them when the command asks:
Select blocks to mirror:. - The command asks
Specify first point of mirror line:. Click the first point of the mirror line. - The command asks
Specify second point of mirror line:. As you move the cursor you see the mirror line and a live preview that shows exactly where the copies will land. Click to confirm. - The mirrored copies are added; the originals stay.
The mirror line lies in your current UCS. The mirror plane is perpendicular to the XY plane of that UCS.
How blocks are mirrored
- A block is rotated around a pivot point so it faces the mirrored side, and moved to the mirrored position. If the mirror line runs parallel to the block’s X direction, that is a half turn (180°); if the line is perpendicular to it, the block is only moved. The scale of the block stays positive.
- All other objects are mirrored normally.
- Objects on locked layers are skipped. The command then reports
N object(s) on locked layers skipped.
Settings
Choosing the pivot yourself. By default a block rotates around the centre of its bounding box. If you want a different pivot, place a POINT object on layer 900-MIRR_POINT inside the block definition. That point becomes the pivot of the block.
